Construction of rental housing and a milling plant

Second Chance Tandem and the Women Groups work in partnership and are in the process of acquiring land to further the joint long-term goals and objectives. A local church Pastor donated a piece of land to be co-owned by the local women groups in rural Siaya county. The land will be used for the development of housing units for rental and the construction of a milling plant. The housing project will target the few local middle-income earners as rental houses are not locally available. Milling plant will process grain (maize, rice, sorghum, millet, cassava, sunflower…) by cleaning, grinding, and separating the grain into various components like flour of various grades, bran, poultry, and livestock middling.

The expected income generated from these initiatives will be ploughed back for the diversification of products and services offered to the consumers by the groups. Connecting the capital to this specific geographic setting will mobilise individuals and associations, alleviate poverty, and facilitate inclusive relationships among the local people.
